Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation announces today that after the four-year firefly restoration program, the company once again carried out tree-planting and overall landscape planning at Hsinchu City Cherry Blossom Park; VIS kept the existing Taiwan cherry trees, but removed the ones that were not growing well and replaced them with other species, turning Cherry Blossom Park into a cherry blossom watching destination that lives up to its name. Under the supervision of Hsinchu City Marketing Department, the environmental improvement project of Cherry Blossom Park has been completed in May, and VIS looks forward to the blooming season of cherry blossom.

"Environmental protection is one important aspect of VIS's social engagement," said VIS VP/CFO Amanda Huang. "In as early as 2015, VIS had already proactively cooperated with the River Management Office to carry out improvement of the section of the Ke-Tzu-Hu Creek that flowed by Cherry Blossom Park, establishing a sound foundation for future environmental and ecological restoration. Later, we officially adopted Cherry Blossom Park, and planted here 200 blue Japanese oaks and 10 cherry trees. We also launched a firefly restoration program at the nearby flood detention pond, and have released a total of 4,500 fireflies into the wild over three occasions. Earlier this year, we launched another transformation for Cherry Blossom Park, carrying out overall landscape planning. In addition to existing Taiwan cherry trees, we also planted other species (shin-sumizome and showa sakura) to add to the scenery splendor and layer, creating an urban park for water activities, cherry blossom watching during the day, and firefly appreciation at night."

Through series of discussions and inspections, VIS launched the transformation project of Cherry Blossom Park in April under the guidance of Hsinchu City Marketing Department, which mainly included: brick trail improvement, elimination of uneven surfaces, and reconfiguration of the trail into a circular route, creating a comfortable space for pedestrians. VIS also designed new attractions like "Cherry Blossom Tunnel," "Landscape Petal Swing," and "Floral Fall Pavilion"; moreover, VIS carried out landscape improvement to transplant 24 Taiwan cherry and 38 blue Japanese oaks, and plant 33 shin-sumizome and four showa sakura trees, looking forward to Cherry Blossom Park becoming another popular recreational and check-in hotspot in Hsinchu.
