While the global picture for the representation of women in technology is improving, more still needs to be done to achieve gender parity. Deloitte Global predicts that, at the largest tech companies, the proportion of the workforce that's female will reach nearly 33% in 2022 - an increase of 2% over the year prior. Gender disparities also prevail in Web3 too. The whole idea behind the open, decentralized model for the metaverse is to create a space for equal opportunity. But women builders and creators are among the minority in the highly male-dominated space. In fact, art market research firm ArtTactic noted that only 16% of NFT sales went to female artists in 2021.

How can we elevate and advance gender parity in tech and the metaverse, and celebrate the women forging innovation? For another special episode of 'Innovation Without Boundaries,' we sit down with Samsung Electronics America CMO Michelle Crossan-Matos to get her take on how to break the bias. Later in the episode, we go behind the scenes at 837/NEXT during NFT.NYC for a "Women of Web3" panel that underscores the importance of female representation in Web3.

"Inclusion is not just a part of D&I. It's the heart and soul of D&I. And I truly hope that more companies invest in inclusion and ensure that the right policies are there to support the development of our future leaders." - Samsung Electronics America CMO Michelle Crossan-Matos

"Web3 is a wonderful space because anyone can enter. There's no barrier. If you have an idea or a passion, Web3 is where you'll find your tribe." - Krista Kim, Contemporary Artist

"I don't want the same people left out of this current financial system where we receive less in our paychecks and less investments to be left out of this once in a lifetime opportunity to build a market, be the financer, create wealth, and talk about money. We're going to talk about money in Web3 and finance is going to be feminine." - Maggie Love, Co-Founder and Director at W3BCLOUD and Founder at SheFi
