Paul Genender Profiled as a 2021 Law360 Trials MVP

September 23, 2021

Complex Commercial Litigation partner Paul Genender has been profiled in Law360 as a 2021 Trials MVP. He is one of just five trial attorneys industrywide recognized for outstanding achievements over the last year.

A seasoned generalist, Paul has excelled at trying complex cases in an array of venues and practice areas. The Q&A profile highlighted Paul's recent record of success in the restructuring arena, where his courtroom skills have proved decisive in a number of hard-fought confirmation trials in major chapter 11 cases.

Law360 recognized Paul's success as lead trial counsel in the contentious confirmation trials of Speedcast International, the first fully virtual global chapter 11 restructuring, and of EP Energy, a multibillion-dollar restructuring that Weil accomplished after the first confirmed plan of reorganization was derailed by global turmoil.

While his trial practice is notable for its breadth and variety, it is rooted in Paul's commitment to his clients.

"If I would distill it, I think I can say I'm motivated by service to clients," Paul told Law360. "Finding out what their business objectives are and how we can use the law and the legal system to help achieve their business objectives, and to determine what a win is and then get there."

The profile also highlighted Paul's leadership, his collaborative approach to trial work and his dedication to mentoring up-and-coming lawyers. The publication noted a recent trial where Paul gave a senior associate on his team a key cross-examination of a witness - without prior deposition.

"She crushed it, and it was so much fun to see it."
