SETA Director Appointed

​​The Board of Supervisors, at its April 9 meeting, authorized the County Executive's appointment of Anita Maldonado as Executive Director of the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA). The Sacramento City Council, at its April 9 meeting, also confirmed Maldonado's appointment.

​Maldonado's appointment is effective April 10, 2024.

"Ms. Maldonado's extensive experience in non-profit administration, combined with her commitment to understanding community needs and delivering impactful programming, makes her the ideal choice for Executive Director of the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency," says County Executive David Villanueva, County of Sacramento.

"We are thrilled that after a national recruitment Dr. Maldonado has been appointed as SETA's new executive director," said Sacramento City Manager Howard Chan. "SETA plays a pivotal role in our community providing workforce development and serving family and early-childhood needs. Dr. Maldonado's extensive experience - as well as her vision for this position - will benefit her greatly as she leads this important organization into its next chapter."

Maldonado has more than 25 years of executive level and administrative management experience. Her experience includes leading nonprofit and public social services agencies that champion policies, programs, and efforts to heighten awareness regarding issues that impact youth and underserved communities. Maldonado also has nearly eight years of teaching experience as an adjunct faculty member of the Franklin University Public Administration Department, where she has taught multiple online courses that cover public and nonprofit governance and leadership.

Since 2020, Ms. Maldonado served as the Chief Executive Officer of Social Advocates for Youth, where she is responsible for the oversight of Youth Crisis, Career and Educational, Counseling, and Housing service programs. Prior to her current role, she served as the Chief Executive Officer of California Human Development. Maldonado also worked for IMPACT Community Action as the Chief Operating Officer.

Maldonado also possesses a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Kent State University, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Akron.
