Zhunge’er Energy Collaborates with China Telecom to Build 5G+ Smart Mine

On September 2, China Energy Zhunge'er Energy Co., Ltd. signed with China Telecom on building the 5G+ Smart Mine Innovation Demonstration Project. Both companies will be committed to developing it into a national demonstration project by establishing a 5G+ Smart Mine Joint Innovation Laboratory and rolling out a 5G network to cover the entire mining area.

Zhunge'er Energy operates two large open-cut mines, namely the Heidaigou Open-cut Mine and the Ha'erwusu Open-cut Mine. According to the requirement of China's coal industry to build safe, green, high-efficient and intelligent technological system for coal mines and to realize safe, green, high-efficient and intelligent coal production, both mines are stepping up to advance intelligent production, digital operation, independent innovation and intelligent management. China Telecom boasts the world's largest broadband internet network and leading mobile communication network, and has built the world's largest cloud network. It has abundant experience in network building, maintenance and researches, and is equipped with the industry's benchmark technologies on building 5G network.

After the signing of cooperation agreement, both companies will put their industrial advantages in full play and work together to build the 5G+ Smart Mine Joint Innovation Laboratory. The lab will help explore the development of smart mines that integrate production, studies, researches and application, and contribute to solving problems of the 5G network layout and application of super-large open-cut mines.

Meanwhile, the lab will also build multiple scale scenarios for applications of 5G+ unmanned driving and remote control in an effort to realize the intelligent transformation of China's largest 5G open-cut mine. It will help Zhunge'er Energy eventually realize unmanned operation via gradually reducing manual work so as to boost the development of smart mines and improve production safety.

In addition, both companies will work together to develop the benchmark plans and study results of rolling out 5G network particularly for Zhunge'er Energy's case, so as to provide experience and references in network building and application in similar scenarios, boost the integrated development of intelligent technologies and the coal industry and promote the intelligent operation of mines. Such efforts will advance the intelligent development of China Energy Investment Corporation, facilitate the transformation and upgrade of the energy industry in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and boost the high-quality development of China's coal industry.
