New Artist Talk, Wine Down Yoga, Craft Kids, and more!

3400 S Fitzhugh Ave, Dallas, TX 75210

Tuesday - Saturday 9AM - 5PM | Sunday & Monday Closed

Our newest Artist Talk is LIVE!

Head to our YouTube channel for our newest Artist Talk with Natashia Johnson, our 2020 Juanita J. Craft Artist Residency recipient!

The project documents the neighborhood of South Dallas and several of its residents, business owners, and community leaders. South Dallas is a community rich in culture and history, but it is quickly changing. The goal of the project is to preserve a period in time that tells us where the neighborhood are before it changes.

"Documenting the spaces is one thing, but that led me to document the people as well because the people are what really makes the community." - Nitashia Johnson

Create Colorful Gardens as a Family

Saturday, May 21 | 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. | South Dallas Cultural Center | FREE

In collaboration with Dallas Innovation Alliance, join us at SDCC to create colorful pieces to display in your garden, front yard, or even your kitchen counter. In this free 2 hour session, you and your child will learn about various life cycles, create unique pots to display the things that bring you joy, and a plant that you will be able to take home and watch grow. You will learn about the good and bad bugs in your garden while using this knowledge to create bug-like rocks and attract the good critters to your plants. This is a family-centered event that invites parents to participate with their kids. Seats are limited for this workshop and is "first come, first serve" with registration.

Who remembers this iconic painting?

"The Sugar Shack" has become a widely recognized image -- thanks in part to its appearance on Gaye's 1976 "I Want You" album and to its use across four seasons of the sitcom "Good Times," which centered around the lives of a poor family in the Chicago housing projects.
