Bokhtar hosts Uzbekistan – Tajikistan Interregional Investment Forum

The first Uzbekistan - Tajikistan Interregional Investment Forum was held in the city of Bokhtar on June 9, on the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Tajikistan.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Davlatali Said, heads of ministries, agencies, industry associations, commercial banks, chambers of commerce and industry, border regions of the two countries, as well as about 300 entrepreneurs from various regions of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

At the forum, the heads of the delegations of the two countries noted the significant potential for enhancing economic partnerships, creating joint high-tech industries, establishing cooperative ties to produce popular products and developing promising markets, called on representatives of the business communities for active and successful cooperation.

It was announced that Uzbekistan - Tajikistan Investment Fund was created with an authorized capital of $50 million to support and promote the implementation of promising joint projects in various sectors of the economy.

The heads of the relevant regions and agencies delivered speeches at the forum, made presentations on the investment opportunities of the two countries, on the joint implementation of specific projects in the automotive, textile, leather, footwear and electrical industries, in food and agriculture. B2G and B2B meetings were held. Documents were signed for the implementation of joint projects.

Following the forum, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Agreements and several trade contracts were reached on the organization of joint ventures for the production of vehicles, transformers, household appliances, the creation of intensive gardens, greenhouse complexes and enterprises for the cultivation and processing of agricultural, fruit and vegetable products. The total amount of the package of signed documents amounts to $730 million.

The forum participants also got acquainted with the exhibition organized in the city of Bokhtar. It presents products of Khatlan district entrepreneurs.
