Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following joint statement today after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its analysis of the Build Back Better Act's potential to increase health care coverage for millions of Americans:

"Today's CBO analysis confirms that the Build Back Better Act would have a transformative benefit for millions of hardworking Americans by expanding access to affordable health care coverage. The independent analysis found that approximately 4 million uninsured Americans would gain coverage and 7.6 million more would obtain subsidized coverage through making the Affordable Care Act's premium tax credit enhancements permanent and closing the Medicaid coverage gap. CBO's analysis of the actions our two committees took last month demonstrates the meaningful impact the Build Back Better Act will have on the lives of Americans and underscores the need to include these critical health care provisions in the final bill."
