On January 21, 2021, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba Dmytro.
Kuleba Dmytro thanked China for its anti-pandemic assistance to Ukraine and spoke highly of China's achievements in fighting against the pandemic, adding that the strong measures taken by the Chinese government and its people's responsible attitudes have set an example for the global pandemic response. He said that Ukraine is looking forward to importing COVID-19 vaccines produced by Chinese enterprises. He hopes that the Chinese government could provide necessary convenience. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between China and Ukraine. Both sides need to jointly push forward the cooperation between the two countries, and add more elements to their strategic partnership.
Wang Yi appreciated the Ukrainian side's unwavering adherence to the one-China principle. Wang Yi said that the Chinese government maintains stable policies towards Ukraine; the Chinese side respects Ukraine's development path chosen by its people and is ready to take the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of the China-Ukraine strategic partnership to enhance mutual political trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and push for healthy and stable progress of bilateral relations.
Kuleba Dmytro stressed that the one-China principle is the fundamental principle that Ukraine should adhere to.
Wang Yi said that China has always opposed to the acts of politicizing the pandemic and vaccines. China appreciated the Ukrainian leaders' objective and fair stance on this issue. China is willing to take concrete actions to fulfill its promise of making the vaccines a global public good. China is ready to continue to provide assistance within its capacity for Ukraine's fight against the pandemic and is convinced that the country will prevail over the virus.
