WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) announced he secured provisions in theINVEST in America Actthat will benefit the San Fernando Valley. The $547 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill, which includes $19.1 million for California's 29th Congressional District, will be considered by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure during a markup today.
'Recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to reimagine our community's transportation and infrastructure,' said Congressman Cárdenas. 'The seven projects I secured on behalf of my constituents will help us fix our roads, get more buses on our streets, create jobs and keep our community safe. Our recovery depends on meeting the evolving needs of Angelenos, and the INVEST in America Act will give us an opportunity to invest federal dollars on projects that will make a real difference in the San Fernando Valley. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this bill.'
The INVEST in America Act offers a new approach to federal transportation policy by emphasizing fixing existing roads and bridges and making record investments in passenger rail, public transit, cycling and walking infrastructure. The five-year surface transportation bill help meet President Biden's vision to invest in American workers and communities while tackling the climate crisis head-on.
