Seward Johnson Sculptures Return to New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (May 9, 2024) - You'll see a half-dozen new faces in downtown New Brunswick during the next few months. Don't be offended if you try to strike up a conversation and they don't respond. They're a little stiff.

The sculptures from the Seward Johnson Atelier are returning to the city streets through Oct. 15 depicting everyday people engaged in ordinary activities.

Artist John Seward Johnson II was born in New Brunswick in 1930, the grandson of Johnson & Johnson co-founder Robert Wood Johnson. More than 450 of Johnson's life-size cast bronze figures have been featured in private collections and museums around the world as well as prominent public locations - like New Brunswick City Center.

The sculptures include a person dressed in a business suit at 75 Bayard St., people reading books at 344 George St. and 392 George St., a trumpet player at 361 George St., a girl waving at people at 11 Livingston Ave. and a hot dog vendor at 101 Paterson St.
