We are contributing to the formation of a sustainable society by recycling waste materials and by-industrial by-product during cement manufacturing, and we can also treat disaster waste materials generated by earthquakes and floods at cement plants. I am accepting things.

So far, disaster waste materials in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture due to the Great East Japan Earthquake and the collapse of the Kinugawa embankment due to the heavy rains in the Kanto and Tohoku regions in September 2015, the Kumamoto Earthquake, the heavy rains in July 2018 (heavy rains in western Japan) and the typhoon Hagiwara We have a track record of accepting disaster waste materials generated by large-scale disasters such as (Typhoon No. 19).

The Tochigi Plant was established in April 1938 as the Katsuo Factory of Fukoku Cement Co., Ltd., and through a merger with Iwaki Cement Co., Ltd. in 1940, Iwaki Cement Co., Ltd. was established as a Katsuo Factory Tochigi Plant After the name change to Sumitomo Osaka CementTochigi Plant, we are now in charge of cement manufacturing mainly for the northern Kanto region. Since our founding, we have built cooperative relationships with the local community, such as promoting local employment and actively participating in various regional activities.

Regarding disaster waste materials when typhoon No. 19 occurred, the Tochigi Plant accepted earth and sand, wood and waste tatami mats from Sano City, as well as waste materials from Tochigi City and neighboring prefectures, and cement. In addition to recycling resources as raw materials for manufacturing and heat energy, we cooperated in early recovery from disasters in the affected areas.

With the conclusion of this comprehensive cooperation agreement, it will be possible to realize early acceptance of disaster waste materials to cooperate with the local community in various ways. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our cooperative relationship with Sano City and work to form a sustainable society and further develop and improve the region.
