Finlandia University's International School of Business has released its Spring recap newsletter! This issue includes: Accounting students start investment lab, the inaugural FinnU Shark Day, growing internship opportunities, Finlandia's new president & more!

With more than 60 students in attendance Finlandia University held its inaugural FinnU Shark Day, which is a spin on the hit television show "Shark Tank", on Wednesday, March 9th 2022. High school students in groups of three to four members from L'anse, Baraga Area and Calumet schools competed for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship. The event took place in the Hirvonen Hall Auditorium, located in Finlandia's newly renovated College of Health Sciences building. There's a new investment club on the Finlandia campus! In the fall of 2021, a group of accounting students formed the Finlandia Investment Lab (FIL). Accounting professor Laura Sieders asked founding member Anders Saarela if he would be interested in forming the club for the 2021-2022 school year. "After discussing the idea with fellow accounting students Michael Stuber and Joseph Watson, we collectively decided that it would be a great opportunity for us to take the reins and begin the formation of the club," said Saarela.

The timing was perfect. Joe Dancy, a lecturer at Southern Methodist University and investment expert who recently relocated to the area, had contacted the International School of Business to inquire about the interest in forming such a club. He has since become a key advisor to the FIL.This new club is open to not only Finlandia business students, but to all and any students interested in joining the club.
