More than 1800 hectares of territory cleared of explosive devices by Russian sappers in Nagorno-Karabakh

The personnel of the humanitarian demining company of the Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to work on clearing the area of explosive objects in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Since November 23, 2020, 1,873 hectares of territory, 575 kilometers of roads, 1,658 housing structures (including 30 socially significant objects) have been cleared of unexploded ordnance. In total, 25379 explosive objects were found and neutralized by Russian peacekeepers.

Explosive objects discovered by the sappers are removed and destroyed at the specially equipped Ballydzha landfill. Ammunition that cannot be evacuated is destroyed on the spot with all necessary safety measures provided during blasting operations.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

To monitor the ceasefire and military operations, a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is being deployed in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The basis of the Russian peacekeeping contingent consists of units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.

With the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, the restoration of vital engineering communications continues in the areas affected by the war.
