RWJBarnabas Health President and CEO, Mark E. Manigan, Honored by Seton Hall Law as “Distinguished Graduate”

Award was Presented at University's Annual Alumni Gala

West Orange, NJ, May 6, 2024 - Seton Hall University's School of Law (Seton Hall Law) has named RWJBarnabas Health President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark E. Manigan, the recipient of its coveted Distinguished Graduate Award. The honor was officially bestowed at Seton Hall Law's Annual Alumni Gala, which was held at the Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains on May 3.

Seton Hall Law is the state's only private law school, and it has achieved consistently high rankings for academic excellence. Past distinguished graduates from the Newark-based law school have included numerous top attorneys and business leaders throughout the state.

"Mark is a renowned New Jersey leader in health care and has made Seton Hall Law proud with his commitment to build healthier communities throughout the state," said Seton Hall Law Dean John Kip Cornwell, J.D., M.Phil., A.B. "Since graduating in 1997, Mark has been a pillar of pride and an avid supporter of the Law School and Center of Health and Pharmaceutical Law and Policy. Our entire law school community is elated to honor him this year with the well-deserved Distinguished Graduate Award."

As President and Chief Executive Officer for RWJBarnabas Health, the largest, most comprehensive academic health care system in New Jersey, Mr. Manigan is leading the system-wide noble mission of creating healthier communities. As part of that commitment, Mr. Manigan is driving effective strategies to improve health equity by addressing the social and environmental factors that affect healthy living. Additionally, Mr. Manigan is spearheading the evolution of the System's strategic plan, implementation of the System's new operating model focused on service line integration, and regionalization of the dramatic expansion of the System's ambulatory services platform.

Mr. Manigan previously served as an attorney in the Health Law Practice at Brach Eichler, where he counseled a wide array of health care clients, including publicly traded companies, health systems, and physician groups.

Mr. Manigan is a noted thought leader on health policy and served on both Gov. Phil Murphy's and Gov. Chris Christie's healthcare transition teams. Mr. Manigan joined RWJBarnabas Health in 2019 and was soon promoted to Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer. He was named President of RWJBarnabas Health in 2022, adding the Chief Executive Officer title in January of last year.
