Don’t Forget Your Arches Reservation! Arches National Park Prepares for a Busy Memorial Day Weekend

News Release Date:
May 23, 2022

MOAB, Utah-As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Arches National Park advises visitors to expect longer wait times at the park entrance and busier parking lots inside the park.

All visitors entering Arches between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. will need a timed entry ticket to access the park. Reservations can be made online at www.Recreation.gov up to three months in advance, and a limited number of next-day tickets will be available at 6 p.m. daily. Those without reservations may enter the park before 6 a.m. or after 5 p.m. Reservations cannot be made at the Arches entrance.

"This year, timed entry tickets have helped alleviate congestion inside Arches," said Superintendent Patricia Trap. "However, we expect many Memorial Day visitors to arrive early in the morning and later in the afternoons, which could increase traffic and lengthen wait times at the park. Be ready to change your itinerary if your preferred trailhead parking lot is full."

Visitors arriving at Arches should expect lines at park entrance gates that could last up to an hour or longer. Parking lots and trails inside the parks may be crowded.

Park rangers ask that vehicles waiting in line at the entrance gate keep pace with traffic in the line and have payment ready. Credit cards are preferred. Timed entry ticket holders, current pass holders, and returning visitors should have passes and identification ready. There are no toilet facilities or drinking water along park entrance roads. Please only park vehicles in designated spaces; do not park unsafely or anywhere that damages park plants or soils.

Visitors should plan for their safety by packing water and snacks and wearing sturdy shoes and sun protection. Visitors are encouraged to check the park website or Twitter account for current information and road conditions prior to driving to the park.
