MEC Madoda Sambatha conducts Covid-19 vaccination drive, 14 to 17 Jun

The Department of Health, North West Province MEC, Madoda Sambatha will continues with a drive to enable thousands of rural communities to access the EVDS to access vaccine on 15 June 2021. These door to door campaign with a team to assist with registration for vaccination of persons 60 years and above will be targeting rural areas of the province. The door to door assisted registration gained momentum last week with visits to Maquassi Hills (Dr Kenneth Kaunda District), Moses Kotane (Bojanala District), Ramotshere Moilwa (Ngaka Modiri Molema District) and Kagisano Molopo (Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District) local municipalities from 31 May to 03 June 2021.

MEC Madoda Sambatha's Phase 2 vaccination outreach which took place in all district focusing on these deep rural areas of our province was successful in bringing out the numbers of over 60 years citizens to come to our designated vaccination sites to receive COVID-19 vaccine.

'An outreach which is meant to extend accessibility to vaccines by mobilising people in a form of door to door campaigns, loud hailing and visiting places where more people converge was very helpful in bring more attention to the vaccination programs. The outreach campaign managed to achieve the following numbers of vaccinations in the chosen villages' said MEC Madoda Sambatha.

The door to door outreach campaign yielded positive results which saw vaccinations 1076 administered as 526 individuals in Wolmaranstad (Maquassi Hills), 250 in Khayakhulu (Moses Kotane), 240 in Dinokana (Ramotshere Moilwa) and 260 in Ganyesa (Kagisano Molopo).

The assisted registration teams are targeting persons with limited access to the system due to lack of required gadgets and network connectivity to internet.

The department of Health is currently administering vaccination at 15 active static sites across the province located in its facilities as well as augmented by the mobile outreach teams. To date the province has administered 84 921 to eligible persons including healthcare workers.

The MEC Madoda Sambatha will continue to head door to door registration and vaccination campaign to communities around the province with a daily target of registering 200 or more of eligible persons on the EVDS as follows:

As the province continues to experience a serious surge of Covid-19 cases. All strict Covid-19 prevention protocols will be adhered to during these door to door campaigns.
