On August 23, 2019, at approximately 4:37 p.m.,New York State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 31 in the Town of Brutus, Cayuga County. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2016 Jeep Cherokeeoperated by a single occupantwas traveling eastbound on State Route 31. For a reasonyet to be determined, the Jeepcrossed into the westbound lane striking a 2015 Ford Taurus containing two occupants.
All three individuals involved were transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where one occupant succumbed to their injuries. Another occupant is still listed in critical condition with multiple injuries and the third individual involved is currently listed in stable condition.
The names of the occupants involved are being with held at this time, and the investigation is continuing.
