Deputy Aleksey Sandikov’s Speech at Hour of NA Announcements

Dear colleagues and fellow citizens,

Delivering speech from the tribune of the National Assembly in Russian I would like to note that this language continues remaining one of the main languages of communication for many Armenians of Armenia. I speak about our compatriots, who because of tragic circumstances and physical violence threat were obliged to leave their houses in Baku, in historical Gandzak, and in the Armenian territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan more than thirty years ago.

The threat of the national security of Armenia from the eastern and western borders continues, so it is important that the state flags of Armenia and Russia wave at the checkpoints, on the border with Turkey and Azerbaijan. After the events of the last autumn we shall realize that the phase of the joint format of the military-political relations with the Russian Federation shall turn into a defense union, which can become a reliable shield against external threats.

They remember in Armenia that Moscow became one of the first capitals of the world that called the Turkish executioners' actions in 1915 genocide, and in the city the leadership of the Soviet Union made a voluntary decision to install a monument perpetuating the memory of the victims at Tsitsernakaberd height of Yerevan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Armenian people's terrible tragedy.

It is symbolic that my speech sounds in parliament on the eve of the regular anniversary of the victory and in the 80th year of the beginning of the Patriotic War, during which more than one million our Armenian compatriots died, got injured and lost.

The Armenians shed blood in the fronts of the Great Patriotic War shoulder to shoulder with their Slavonic brothers. After many years, participants of the 44-day war, soldiers of the Armenian Army Yevgeny Gorodnichy from Yerevan, Misha Chechentsov from Amasia, Pyotr Ivanov from Privolnoye village, Alexander Nechaev from Lermontovo and Dmitry Novikov from Fioletovo heroically gave their lives in Artsakh.

And the Colonel of the Chief Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Armenia Stanislav Yeremin was heavily wounded from the blow of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). He cannot still firmly stand on his feet, but he believes that he will return to service. We shall not forget that since the first Artsakh war there are cemeteries of our Slavonic voluntary brothers' near Shushi.

Honour and glory to all our heroes.

In the history of the Armenian people the May month was a victorious one and remains such. Nothing will cast shadow to the feats of the weapon in the battles of Avarayr, Sardarapat, Berlin and Artsakh.

I congratulate all you on the upcoming holiday - May 9. I wish all the veterans good health and longevity, and all of us - new victories in Armenia's all spheres of life.
