The delegation of the Russian Defence Ministry arrived on a working trip to Sri-Lanka

A delegation of the Russian Defence Ministry headed by the Chief of the Engineering Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky, arrived on a working trip to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka.

The purpose of the visit is to exchange experience in the field of engineering, familiarize with the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Sri-Lanka and discuss prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of engineering troops.

The leadership of the engineering troops of the two countries will discuss the training of Sri-Lankan servicemen at the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces and the Tyumen Higher Military Engineering Command School named after Marshal of the Engineering Troops A. Proshlyakov, as well as the possible participation of Sri-Lankan servicemen in competitions held within the framework of the Army International Games on the line of engineering troops: Open Water, Safe Route and Engineering Formula.

During the visit, the Russian delegation will get acquainted with the procedure for training specialists in the field of mine clearance in Sri-Lanka's training centers, as well as their educational and material base.
