Inauguration of the Cabinda General Hospital

Inauguration of the General Hospital of Cabinda by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço

The inauguration of the Cabinda General Hospital, located in the province of Cabinda, took place on 21st April 2022. This ceremony was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic, João Manuel Lourenço, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta and other distinguished figures of the Angolan Government. In addition, representing Mota-Engil, António Mota, Manuel Mota, Francisco Franca, CEO of Angola, accompanied by prominent representatives of Mota-Engil Angola, as well as the supervisory entity DAR Angola.

The Cabinda General Hospital was designed to meet the needs of the population of this province, so that its inhabitants can benefit from medical and medication assistance, as well as the provision of a quality service. In order to guarantee favourable conditions for the users of this sector, a better quality of assistance, and to provide an increase in treatment techniques in all areas of activity.

The building is located on a plot of approximately 39,150 m2, with 9 floors, and contains technical and administrative complementary areas, with inpatient services, surgeries, emergency and delivery rooms, among other services.

The hospital unit has a capacity for 200 beds distributed between adult wards on floor 6, paediatrics on floor 5, gynaecology and obstetrics on floor 4 and intensive care located on floor 3.

It is the Cabinda General Hospital, which was created to provide services that did not exist in the province or in the country, such as personalised hospitalisation, differentiated delivery services that offer comfort to mothers and newborns, a neonatal and adult intensive care unit, as well as cardiopneumology services, minimal access surgery, nephrology, pathology, haemodynamics services and respective means of diagnosis.

The unit will also increase the National Health Service's capacity to carry out magnetic resonance, CT, mammography and electroencephalogram exams, as well as providing diagnostic resources to other services.

With the Cabinda General Hospital, many citizens will stop spending on trips to Luanda or abroad to seek better medical care, due to the lack of specialised services in the province.

This project is evidence of Mota-Engil's capacity as a company to execute highly complex projects and as a catalyst for the sustainable development of construction and to contribute to the development of the country where it has been operating for over 75 years and in Cabinda where it was born.
