(Portsmouth, NH) - Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee that funds the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), toured the future site of a project led by HAVEN and Portsmouth Housing that will relocate HAVEN's support services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence to a new facility and add affordable and transitional housing units. Shaheen also accepted the 2023 National Sexual Violence Resource Center's Visionary Voice Award from the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (NHCADSV) for her decades of work on behalf of survivors. HAVEN is one of NHCADSV's twelve domestic and sexual violence crisis centers, and Shaheen secured $2 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for the project in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 government funding legislation to help HAVEN with this relocation.
