First Responders Contain Blaze in Buda ETJ

Buda, Texas- Emergency resources from Hays County, including the Buda Fire Department, have been working a fire east of Dove Drive in Buda's extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) on the Persimmons Tract of Property. First responders have contained the fire, but it's still burning.

The wildfire was estimated to have burned about 50 acres by 3 p.m. The City of Buda and Hays County encouraged residents to avoid the affected area to allow first responders to access the area as needed.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022, first responders had not issued any evacuation orders.

The City of Buda is home to about 18,000 residents and has earned designations as a "Texas Main Street City," "Tree City USA," "Bee City Affiliate" and "Platinum Level Scenic City." Buda is situated along the Interstate 35 corridor, has 14 parks and a historic downtown district where residents and visitors alike can shop, dine, relax, and breathe easy here.
