Crater Lake National Park Seeks Public Input on Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan

Crater Lake National Park has released a draft accessibility self-evaluation and transition plan. As part of the planning process, the National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public comment on the draft plan. Your participation is important to us.

An interdisciplinary team of NPS staff, including park and regional personnel, identified key park experiences for Crater Lake National Park and determined which areas would be evaluated for accessibility needs. The team then conducted an on-site assessment of park facilities, services, activities, and programs, identifying existing barriers to accessibility at each location. Based on these findings, staff developed a transition plan that includes strategies for improving accessibility for all park users. The plan provides recommendations for removing barriers to accessibility, including specific actions, site plans, and anticipated time frames for implementation. It also addresses park policies, practices, communication, and training needs. In the future, the plan will guide changes to how services, activities, and programs are provided in multiple locations throughout the park.
