Kofola's annual report confirms 2021 results, EBITDA at Kc1.128bn

Ostrava, North Moravia, April 12 (CTK) - The annual report of soft drinks group Kofola has confirmed the preliminary results released in February, according to which EBITDA grew by 9.5 percent yr/yr to Kc1.128bn in 2021, the highest level in the firm's existence, Kofola said in a press release today.

For this year, the company plans EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) between Kc1.08bn and Kc1.2bn and a two-digit growth in sales, CFO Martin Pisklak said.

The group's sales grew by 7.5 percent yr/yr to Kc6.636bn.

Kofola reached successful results despite significant restrictions on the market in the first half of last year, the company said.

The record-breaking main season on domestic markets, the return of tourists from all over Europe to Croatia and Slovenia, the company's courage to launch innovations that exceeded its plans and its year-round cost discipline, all of this led to the record EBITDA value last year, CEO Jannis Samaras said.

The Czech and Slovak unit KofolaCeskoSlovensko succeeded on the domestic markets both with the traditional Kofola portfolio and with its innovations and new projects, thus managing to offset the slight fall on the non-alcoholic drinks market, company head Danial Burys said.

It managed to get EBITDA to the black figures thanks to downsizing and the successful restart of establishments after their opening in the second half of this year, the company said.

In the Adriatic region, Kofola registered a 12.6 percent increase in sales and a 34.8 percent rise in EBITDA, Radenska Adriatic CEO Marian Sefcovic said.

Kofola is a leading soft drinks maker in Central Europe. It has 11 factories in five European countries.

Besides the Kofola brand, the company also produces fruit drinks and syrups Jupi, grape-based soft drinks Vinea and Top Topic, children's drinks Jupik, mineral water brands Rajec, Korunni, Ondrasovka, Klastorna Kalcia, and energy drink Semtex. The group also includes the UGO fresh and salad bars, Czech herb tea maker Leros, Slovenian company Radenska and Croatian mineral water producer Studenac.

The group has almost 2,000 employees.

Kofola is majority owned by company Aetos belonging to the Samaras family and other Kofola founders, Rene Musila and Tomas Jendrejek.
