DCCC Statement on House Republican Leadership Joining Election Deniers On Steps of U.S. Capitol

Today, Republican leaders, including the Speaker of the House, joined election deniers like Cleta Mitchell, Ken Cucinelli, and Stephen Miller to propagate phony conspiracy theories in a brazen effort to undermine our election system.

At least a dozen vulnerable House Republicans and GOP challengers have denied the legitimacy of the 2020 election and sided with January 6 insurrectionists who stormed our Capitol as a result of false election theories.

In response, DCCC national press secretary Viet Shelton released the following statement:

"Rather than do anything to help working families, Mike Johnson is spending his time giving those most responsible for undermining our elections a megaphone to lecture people about 'election integrity' on the same steps where insurrectionists sought to stop the count of a legitimate election by assaulting those sworn to defend our Capitol.

"Irony is dead."
