Fortum eNext and Uniper Engineering to make joint service offering for utilities and energy-intensive industries .

FORTUM CORPORATION ONLINE NEWS 8 June 2021

Fortum eNext and Uniper Engineering are among the first business units within the Fortum Group, to collaborate more closely in order to create added value for industrial and utility customers through expanded services and increased expertise.

For this purpose a joint offering has been developed focusing mainly on the area of turbine and generator maintenance and modernisation services as well as in engineering and delivering solutions for smart, next-generation low-carbon energy systems.

This alliance brings together two independent service providers with a combined 1,500 experts serving customers globally, and with a local presence in Germany, UK, Finland, and Sweden. Both companies have a strong market position with an established portfolio based on broad experience in serving energy-intensive industries and extensive engineering know-how covering the whole life cycle of a power plant.

'Our offering and our expertise complement each other perfectly. Therefore, in the future we will be able to operate more strongly in the market together and offer our customers an even more comprehensive range of services through expanded in-house disciplines,' says Dr. Cord Landsmann, COO for Uniper Engineering.

The increased number of experts close to customers bring flexibility and the ability to react fast when support is needed.

'With increased capabilities and resources, we are able to offer the technically best suitable solution for each case, and support our customers in their specific needs. In practise, we have already moved on to working together on concrete projects,' says Kimmo Kohtamäki, Vice President for Fortum eNext.

In connection with the strategy update in December 2020, Fortum and Uniper announced that they have together identified cooperation benefits covering a wide variety of business initiatives with a positive cash impact of approximately EUR 100 million annually on a consolidated Group basis to be achieved in 2025. This year in May, Fortum and Uniper announced having jointly finalised the first planning phase in the three strategic cooperation areas of Nordic hydro and physical trading optimisation, wind and solar development, and hydrogen. The principle behind all cooperation actions is that they will create value for both Fortum and Uniper, and, in particular, for customers of both companies.
