Pride Flag Flying, City Logo Updated for Pride Month

The City of Hillsboro kicked off Pride Month across our community by flying the Pride Flag on the Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza and by using a newly created Pride Month-themed City logo on the City's social media channels.

2022 marks the first year that the City of Hillsboro has flown the Pride Flag and used the specially designed logo.

The City of Hillsboro is excited to celebrate Pride Month in Hillsboro throughout June, including three upcoming events:

As in years past, the Pride Month cultural celebration webpage is featured on the City's website with Pride Month information and resources. In addition, the Hillsboro City Council will recognize Pride Month in Hillsboro by reading aloud a Pride Month proclamation during the Tuesday, June 7 City Council meeting.

Celebrating Our LGBTQ+ Community Members

Hillsboro is wonderfully diverse. We continue our work to make our community a place where all people can feel a sense of belonging and safety. Our celebration of diversity is an important step in communicating our City's values. Pride Month is an opportunity to show our LGBTQ+ community members that we value them and see them and they belong here.

Before we take that for granted, we should recognize that, historically, LGBTQ+ community members have been the target of violence, harassment, and discrimination by many. Despite this, they continue to thrive with the support of LGBTQ+ affirming spaces, agencies, and individual allies.

In Hillsboro, we do not tolerate discrimination. We treat everyone with dignity, equality, and respect. And we continue to work to create a more inclusive, more equitable community.
