The intersectionof racism and immigration status presents a unique and formidable barrier to thehealth of Black immigrants. During a hearing before the New York CityCouncil Committees on Immigration and Hospitals, Monica Tulchinsky, Senior Staff Attorney in the LegalHealthdivision of NYLAG,testified in favor of Introduction 0085-2024,abill to require the City to develop and issue an annualhealth surveyof newly arrived immigrants and asylum seekers.
