Social media has not only changed the way people communicate with one another, but also how we influence the way we are seen and shape others' opinions about us. While many seek to shape the way we talk about certain brands or events, there is potential for performers to build influence and leverage that into new career opportunities.
In this episode, podcast hosts SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White investigate how social media is bringing change to performers' careers. Joining them is actor Shannon Woodward (Westworld) and Wormhole Labs Chief Operations Officer Phil Ranta.
Woodward discusses her career and the growth of her social presence on streaming site Twitch. Additionally, she and Ranta provide insight on ways all performers can leverage social media as part of their career, as well as the ongoing opportunities and challenges that can come from creating an online community.
