The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is honored to announce that the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas will address the IAFC membership at the IAFC Fire-Rescue International (FRI) 2022 conference next week at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.
"We look forward to the Secretary's visit," said Chief Kenneth Stuebing, President of the IAFC. "Secretary Mayorkas will have the opportunity to address the leaders of global fire and emergency services organizations who are leading emergency service response on the frontline every day. It's truly a privilege to have the Secretary recognize our service by his visit with us at FRI 2022."
Secretary Mayorkas is scheduled to address hundreds of fire and emergency medical service chiefs from the U.S., Canada, and around the world at the FRI 2022 opening general session on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 8 AM.
As head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Secretary Mayorkas oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA), two agencies that the IAFC works hand-in-hand with on a wide variety of fire, rescue, disaster response and recovery, and homeland security issues.
"We are extremely excited to host Secretary Mayorkas," said Rob Brown, CEO of the IAFC. "In addition, we are honored to have the U.S. Fire Administrator, Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, on hand at FRI most of the week and she will be delivering remarks regarding key fire, EMS and wildfire issues just prior to Secretary Mayorkas address."
