Fire at Sainte-Elizabeth Cathedral in Malabo

This emblematic monument forms part of the joint heritage and history that Equatorial Guinea and Spain share following its inauguration in 1916, involving the participation of the renowned architect Gaudí, among others. Spain empathises with the people over the damage that has affected a symbol of the national identity and hopes that this can be repaired and sustainable solutions can be provided to the loss and damage suffered with the aim of preserving a unique neo-gothic architectural expression of Sub-Saharan Africa.
