City of Fayetteville invites public input on 71B rezoning efforts

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The City of Fayetteville will host a series of public input meetings on strategic rezoning efforts along the 71B corridor, which includes stretches of N. College Ave. and S. School Ave.

Revitalization efforts along the 71B corridor began in 2018, with most projects to-date addressing street and safety improvements. With these projects well underway, the City now turns its focus to nearly 500 land parcels along the corridor and how they could be rezoned to support more housing and mixed-use developments.

The following are scheduled public input sessions:

  • Wednesday, May 29: 4-6 p.m. at OMNI Center for Peace, Justice & Ecology (3274 N. Lee Ave.)
  • Thursday, May 30: 5-7 p.m. at Crisis Brewing (210 S. Nelson Hackett Blvd.)
  • Monday, June 3: 3-6 p.m. at City Hall first floor foyer (113 W. Mountain St.)
  • Tuesday, June 4: 3-6 p.m. at City Hall first floor foyer
  • Wednesday, June 5: 3-6 p.m. at City Hall first floor foyer
  • Thursday, June 6: 3-6 p.m. at City Hall first floor foyer
  • Friday, June 7: 9 a.m. - noon at City Hall first floor foyer

Once initial public input is received, City staff will work with the Planning Commission to develop a rezoning proposal to present for additional community feedback in late Summer 2024.

Those unable to attend still will be able to provide feedback through a questionnaire, which will be posted to Speak Up Fayetteville, the City's online engagement portal. Starting May 29, it and other project information will be available at: https://speakup.fayetteville-ar.gov.

This central corridor offers a significant opportunity to provide Fayetteville residents access to more housing options, walkable neighborhoods and safety improvements for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
