Community College of Philadelphia to Host 2022 Gateway to College Graduation Ceremony

The College will celebrate the 27 high school students who were previously disengaged from the School District of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - Community College of Philadelphia announced that it will host a graduation ceremony for its Gateway to College program at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 in The Great Hall, Room S2-19 of the Winnet Student Life Building, 1700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. The main entrance to the Winnet Student Life Building is on 17th Street between Spring Garden and Callowhill Streets.

There are 27 students graduating from the program this year. During the graduation ceremony, attendees will hear from Pennsylvania state Senator Sharif Street; Monifa Young, Gateway to College program director; Nathaniel "Nate" Gordon, Gateway to College class of 2022 valedictorian; Jemma Salisbury, Gateway to College class of 2022 salutatorian; Paris Maldonado, student emcee; and others.

The Gateway to College program is an alternative education program for School District of Philadelphia students, ages 16 to 21, who have disengaged from high school but desire to get back on track and earn a diploma. As part of the Gateway program, students not only have a second chance to earn a high school diploma, but also earn college credits toward an associate degree or certificate.

The program is funded through the College in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia's Opportunity Network. Additional information on Community College of Philadelphia's Gateway to College program can be found online.
