Our Meet the Hiring Manager series allows you to get to know the people who grow teams at VMware. You'll learn about our hiring managers' career paths and what they look for in candidates during the interview process. This week we'd like you to meet Ahmed Soliman.

  • Job title: Technical Support Manager
  • Years at VMware: 2 years
  • First job: My first job right after University graduation was in a company called 'Applications' as Project Coordinator. The company was specialized in Smart Home solutions, it was my first encounter with TV popping up from walls, Light, Music, and curtains controlled from your Mobile. Eleven years ago, that was something big!
  • Fun fact: I'm a big fan of music for almost all the genres, and at some point, I was DJ-ing in my bedroom! Am also fond of desert camping and recently started to do some hiking activities in our beautiful country Egypt.
  • Favourite social distancing activity: It was a project I started to revamp my backyard, every couple of weeks or so, I do something new in it.

VMware Careers: Tell us about your career journey to date?

Ahmed: In 2010 I started my career as a project coordinator in a company called 'Applications'. From there in 2011, I moved to another company called 'LinkDotNet' (Internet Service Provider), where I started my Technical Support journey as a TSE (Technical Support Engineer) and within two years I was promoted to Senior TSE. In 2015, I moved to a different role as a Strategic Account Manager for Orange (France Telecom), and in late 2016, I moved to another Company 'Raya DataCenter' as a Section Head for Support Operation. This was my first role as a leader, and I stayed there for three and a half years. In 2019, I joined VMWare as a Technical Support Supervisor and then was promoted to a manager in 2020.
