Pearl Harbor National Memorial will partner with Manhattan Project National Historical Park to remember the 77th Anniversary of the atomic bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This Messages of Peace event will include a luminary ceremony hosted on August 7, 2022.

On Saturday, August 6 th and Sunday August 7th, visitors can participate in the event by recording messages of inspiration and peace on paper bags that will be used for the luminary event. The commemoration will culminate in an after-hour event beginning at 6:30 PM on Sunday the 7th. Visitors will be able to help place luminaries along the shoreline of Pearl Harbor and engage with some of our National Park Service staff who will share stories of the peace and reconciliation that grew out of the harrowing reality of World War II.

Visitors are welcome to come early and record their own messages of peace, reconciliation, and hope leading up to the evening program, which will end at 7:30 PM .

For additional questions about this program, please e-mail us.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial does not charge any admission fee. Pacific Historic Parks will have the Pearl Harbor Virtual Reality Experience and their store available to the public throughout the event. The Pearl Harbor Visitors Center Museums and shoreside displays will be available for the public.
