Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner election 2024 - result declared

The count for the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner election has been completed today (4 May 2024) and the result declared.

For the first time, the Police and Crime Commissioner election used the first past the post system, with voters choosing a single candidate on the ballot paper. In previous years the supplementary vote system was used.

The results were as follows:

Stanka Adamcova (Labour and Co-operative Party) - 36,345
Alan Hagger (Liberal Democrats) - 20,485
Mike Rees (Independent) - 29.035
Philip Wilkinson (Conservative and Unionist Party) - 38,578

Therefore, Philip Wilkinson, has been elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire. The result was declared at County Hall, Trowbridge.

The election saw a turnout of 22.72% across Wiltshire and Swindon with 125,927 verified votes cast in total. 52,343 verified votes were cast in the Swindon local authority are (out of an electorate of 167,521) and 73,584 in the Wiltshire local authority area (out of an electorate of 386,384).

Terence Herbert, Police Area Returning Officer for Wiltshire, said: "Congratulations to Philip Wilkinson on being re-elected as Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

"I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to vote, and to my staff and everyone involved for their professionalism in running such a smooth election."
