Brecksville, OH - To improve the park experience for all visitors to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP), the National Park Service (NPS) wants to hear from the public. Input is needed to help identify key issues and opportunities that will help planners come up with ways to enhance future park enjoyment and protect the park's natural and cultural environment.

Those interested in hearing more about the process may join one of two virtual public meetings, which will include an opportunity to ask questions and make preliminary comments:

Tuesday, March 23, 2021, 7-8:30 p.m. EST
Thursday, March 25, 2021, 7-8:30 p.m. EST

Those who cannot attend a public meeting may learn more and enter comments/questions at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/cuvavisitorusemanagement. The public comment period is March 8 - April 9, 2021.

The park wants to understand what experiences are most important to visitors now, what kinds of experiences that people suggest for the future, and what may be getting in the way of enjoying a safe, welcoming park visit. During this multi-year process, planners will continue to seek and incorporate public input to create a long-term Visitor Use Management (VUM) Plan.

The VUM Plan will consider management actions that will:

  • Adapt to and manage changing park visitation patterns and uses
  • Provide inclusive and equitable visitor experiences throughout the park
  • Address congestion and visitor conflicts at many key park locations that include roads, parking lots, trails, and river access points
  • Improve wayfinding, visitor circulation, and visitor information
  • Enhance visitor experiences and promote National Park Service identity within the park
  • Address impacts to park ecological health and overall natural and cultural landscapes
  • Plan for and design sites to manage river access
CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural resources in one setting.
