Governor Polis Signs Bills Into Law

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis signed the following bipartisan bills into law during a ceremony in the Governor's Office.

• HB24-1389- School Funding 2023-24 for New Arrival Students, sponsored by Representatives Emily Sirota and Rick Taggart, and Senators Rachel Zenzinger and Barbara Kirkmeyer.
  • "This bipartisan law helps ensure school districts receive the funding they need to educate students where they are currently attending school. I applaud the Joint Budget Committee for their work on this legislation and am happy to sign it into law to help more schools and educators get the resources they need,"said Governor Jared Polis.

• HB24-1394- Mill Levy Equalization, sponsored by Representatives Shannon Bird and Rick Taggart, and Senators Rachel Zenzinger and Barbara Kirkmeyer.
  • "Public charter schools shouldn't be penalized for funding. In my State of the State address this year, I urged the legislature to achieve full mill levy equalization for state-authorized Charter schools, and I'm proud to sign this bipartisan law to make that happen. I thank the JBC for their work on this bill to help support students and educators at every public school across the state," said Governor Jared Polis.

• HB24-1420- Transfer to Colorado Crime Victim Services Fund, sponsored by Representatives Shannon Bird and Rick Taggart, and Senators Rachel Zenzinger and Barbara Kirkmeyer.
  • "This new bipartisan law will help make Colorado one of the ten safest states and provide important support to victims," said Governor Jared Polis.
