The Tallahassee Community College (TCC) Foundation is excited to bring the culinary talents of award-winning chef, restaurateur and author Marcus Samuelsson to Tallahassee for its signature culinary experience: Cleaver and Cork.
'In our fifth year, we are thrilled to have Chef Marcus Samuelsson headlining Cleaver and Cork,' said Heather Mitchell, Executive Director of the TCC Foundation. 'As an acclaimed chef with an international and southern flair, it's sure to be a real showstopper.'
An Ethiopian Swedish chef and restaurateur, Marcus Samuelsson is the man behind many restaurants worldwide including Red Rooster Harlem, MARCUS Montreal, and Marcus B&P in Newark, NJ. Samuelsson was the youngest person to ever receive a three-star review from The New York Times and has won multiple James Beard Foundation Awards including Best Chef: New York City. He was also crowned champion of television shows 'Top Chef Masters' and 'Chopped All Stars' and was the winning mentor on ABC's 'The Taste'.
Season 2 of Chef Marcus Samuelsson's TV series titled 'No Passport Required' with VOX/Eater and PBS will debut January 2020. His exciting new audio project with Audible, titled Our Harlem is also out now.
'My mission with each project - whether it be a new restaurant, book, or TV show - is to celebrate the food and the culture,' said Chef Marcus Samuelsson. 'Most of all, I hope to inspire others through Cleaver and Cork to be adventurous, learn something new, and get cooking!'
Cleaver and Cork includes three events over the course of the week - kicked off with its newest event, A Chef's Tasting, on Sunday, March 1. The event is a progressive dinner party with local restaurants hosting private parties, each offering a different course and wine pairing that includes their own unique spin on Chef Marcus Samuelsson's recipes.
The exclusive culinary experience with Chef Marcus Samuelsson will officially begin with the second event, A Session with Chef, on Thursday, March 5. The event provides an opportunity for the community to see Samuelsson live in action at the cooking demonstration featuring recipes from his cookbooks including New American Table, The Soul of a New Cuisine, Marcus Off Duty and The Red Rooster Cookbook.
On Friday, March 6, the conclusion of the culinary experience will take place at the Foundation's signature event: A Chef's Table. The exclusive dinner experience will feature a four-course meal curated by Chef Marcus Samuelsson specifically for the event with each course paired with sommelier-selected wines from around the world.
This year's events are sponsored by Moore, Capital City Bank, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and ABC Fine Wine & Spirits.
'The Foundation is passionate about creating opportunity for students to define and reach their education and career goals,' said Mitchell. 'Cleaver and Cork was born from this as we work to further elevate educational program opportunities, scholarships, and teaching and learning facilities.'
Tickets are now on sale for all three Cleaver and Cork events and are available at www.cleaverandcorktcc.com. Follow Chef Marcus Samuelsson on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter at @MarcusCooks.
