Smucker Co-sponsored Bill to Fund Holocaust Education in School Passes House

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted today in favor of the bipartisan Never Again Education Act - H.R. 943 - legislation that establishes a fund at the Treasury Department to be administered by the Department of Education to support Holocaust education efforts around the country.

This bill would empower the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to promote effective Holocaust education materials and activities, leveraging a combination of public and private funds so that states and schools can incorporate Holocaust education into their curriculum to ensure all students understand the evils of the Holocaust.

'I am proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan legislation led by Rep. Stefanik and Rep. Maloney,' said Congressman Smucker. 'Today marks the 75 years since the liberation of 7,000 prisoners from the German Nazi Auschwitz camp. For nearly five years, these resilient individuals saw their loved-ones murdered while they endured humiliation, suffering, and pain. Passing this legislation is critical to ensuring the next generation of students understand the dangers of anti-Semitism and that the memory of the Holocaust is not forgotten. I applaud the sponsors of this bill and my colleagues in the House for its bipartisan passage.'
