Commercial Structure Fire

On Tuesday evening, July 19, 2022 at 7:29 PM the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for the report of a structure fire at 1045West Algonquin Road in Algonquin. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:31 PM and were met with heavy fire conditions in the multi-unit automotive repair facility. Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Command quickly elevated the response plan by utilizing the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to the box alarm level bringing in several fire departments to help with extinguishment. Fire Crews made an aggressive interior attack and the fire was under control at 7:49 PM. The fire was declared out at 8:33 PM. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is still under investigation. At the current time the fire is being investigated by Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District Investigators, and the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. A damage estimate is not yet available.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection received assistance from the Cary Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District, Elgin Fire Department, West Dundee Fire Department, Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District, Barrington Fire Department, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire Protection District, Nunda Fire Protection District, Pingree Grove Fire Protection District, McHenry County Sheriff's Department, Algonquin Police Department, and the Salvation Army.
