Introducing the de Beaumont Foundation's Infodemiology Training Program and Monitoring Lab

April 25, 2024

Misinformation - and information overload - are growing challenges in public health, and it can feel impossible to keep up with and respond to false and misleading health information. To address this, the de Beaumont Foundation and Public Good Projects (PGP) created a free Infodemiology Training Program.

This program was showcased in a session at the 2024 ASPPH Annual Meeting, featuring Maddie Kapur and Nalini Padmanabhan of the de Beaumont Foundation. This free, video-based training equips professionals with skills to recognize, monitor, and report on trending health narratives online, essential in today's landscape. The program parallels disease surveillance, aiding state and local health departments in countering false narratives. Complementing the training, the Monitoring Lab offers free, state-level media dashboards on Infodemiology.com, tracking trending narratives across public health topics.
