05/17/2022 - Bellin Health to Construct Pediatric and Adolescent Specialty Care Clinic

Bellin Health to Construct Pediatric and Adolescent Specialty Care Clinic

Ashwaubenon facility represents major next step for pediatric partnership

Bellin Health will build a new pediatric and adolescent specialty care clinic on land near the corner of Wisconsin 172 and Ashland Avenue in the village of Ashwaubenon. The new building will be the future home of the newly announced Bellin Health Adolescent Team, a first in-the-area clinic that will offer a tailored approach to addressing the multifaceted healthcare needs of teens and adolescents.

The clinic will be operated through the new partnership announced in 2021 between Bellin, Children's Wisconsin and ThedaCare to improve the health and well-being of children and adolescents and bring specialty care closer to home for the families of Northeast Wisconsin.

Through the partnership, the new pediatric clinic will be the home for some of Bellin's pediatric primary care and psychiatric services, with specialty services provided by Children's Wisconsin and Bellin Health experts. It will be staffed by a mix of new and existing providers from the two health systems. A complete list of services will be finalized closer to the facility's opening, tentatively planned to occur in the first quarter of 2024.

"We are excited to move forward with this milestone next step in our pediatric partnership, which is allowing us to serve the children and families of our region with the very best in close-to-home care," said Bellin Health President & CEO Chris Woleske. "This clinic is a very tangible part of our commitment to transforming the health and well-being of children and adolescents in our region through this joint endeavor."

Added Gail Ostrander, vice president of Northeast Regional Services, Children's Wisconsin:

"This is another example of health systems in the region collaborating and working together to improve how we serve kids and families. Families understand kids are not little adults and more and more are choosing to have their kids seen by Children's Wisconsin specialists. This clinic and partnership will help us support even more families."

Construction is expected to start in December 2022. The clinic will support on-site services including lab and x-ray. It will be owned and operated by Bellin.

"We look forward to sharing additional details about this new pediatric and adolescent specialty care clinic in the near future," Woleske said. "It is a critical element of our steadfast commitment to the children and families of our region, and we are so excited to be taking this step to serve them better."

About the partnership: In late 2021, Bellin Health, Children's Wisconsin and ThedaCare announced a new pediatric partnership with a shared focus on improving the health and well-being of children and adolescents in Northeast and Central Wisconsin, as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This partnership is designed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, adolescents, their families and the region's communities through focused coordination, closer alignment and resource investments. Each partner organization plays an essential role, with direct benefits to patients that include:
• Bringing additional pediatric services and specialists to the region to expand access to local, close-to-home care.
• Reducing the need for children and their families to travel outside the region when a higher level of care is needed.
• Consistent, best-practice standards of care across each organization's care settings in the region.
• Tailored child and adolescent services that meet community-specific needs with the right resources, expertise, skilled providers and clinical staff, technology and more.
• Better and more efficient care through seamless care coordination and tighter alignment across the three systems.

Together, the partners are working to expand resources, support and pediatric specialty care for children and adolescents in ways that will allow us to reach and care for more patients across the Fox Valley, Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
