No Angels Return To Top Of The Charts With 20th Anniversary Album

No Angels are back - with a vengeance: Twenty years after their first hits, the former 'girl group' went straight to number one in the German album charts with a new album released by BMG. They also plan to be back on stage again in 2022.

No Angels, Continental Europe's most successful girl group, are back at the top of the official German charts. With their new album '20,' released by BMG, Sandy Mölling, Lucy Diakovska, Jessica Wahls and Nadja Benaissa celebrate their 20th anniversary - and pick up where they started 20 years ago: at Number One in the album charts, BMG reported on Friday. When the music company made the No Angels songs available on digital streaming platforms for the first time in years in the fall of 2020, this quickly generated a new buzz around the band. Following the enormous response from fans, No Angels released a new version of their Number One debut single 'Daylight In Your Eyes' in February this year. For the new album, the singers worked with producer Christian Geller to re-record some of their greatest hits as well as four new tracks.

'The best gift anyone could ask for from their fans'

'We are deeply touched and thank the whole team, especially our record company BMG, that this dream has come true,' reads a statement from the band. 'We are stunned that even after 20 years there are still so many people who are moved by our music.' Maximilian Kolb, BMG Managing Director GSA, added: 'We are immensely proud to celebrate such a success with this iconic band. The Number One is the best 20th anniversary gift anyone could ask for from their fans. Working with the No Angels is something very special for the BMG team in Berlin and we are thrilled that the response has been so overwhelmingly positive, from the return to streaming to album campaign and the terrific presales for the live show.' Being back at number one after twenty years is a real pop fairy tale come true, says producer Christian Geller, 'I'm so happy for the four of them!' And Feline Moje, BMG Director Recorded Music GSA, says: 'The former girl band No Angels return as a band of grown-up women and prove once again that it's impossible to imagine German pop history without them.'

With four Number One hits, three Number One albums and more than five million records sold, No Angels became both the bestselling German girl band of all time and the most successful girl band of the 2000s in Continental Europe. Their record-breaking debut single 'Daylight in Your Eyes' sold more than 500,000 copies in the first week of release alone, and their debut album 'Elle'ments' was certified triple-platinum. On June 4, BMG released '20,' the new No Angels album. The podcast series '20 - The No Angels Podcast' began on Audio Now on May 14.
