The annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation was a violation of international law.
At the same time, the Slovak Republic points to continuing restrictions on the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Crimean people who do not agree with the measures of the local administration. Slovakia further calls for the release of political prisoners and an end to the persecution of Crimean Tatars and representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The Slovak Republic reiterates its call for observers from international organizations to be granted access to the peninsula. In cooperation with other countries and international organizations, it will continue to participate in the efforts to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity in accordance with international law.
