ESU Football Signs 17 to National Letters of Intent

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University Head Coach and the Warrior football program have announced the signing of 17 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

The Warriors have added seven offensive players and 10 players on the defensive side as part of the signing class.

'We are excited to welcome the 2020 class to East Stroudsburg University,' said Terwilliger. 'We cannot wait to get to get to work with these young men in the classroom, on the field and in our community. These young men are Warriors for life.'

'It takes a village to be successful at recruiting the top talent in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington D.C. and New York. Our staff has spent countless hours traveling many miles to find the right fit for our University,' continued Terwilliger. 'We are especially appreciative of our entire campus community who make ESU the place Where Warriors Belong. This class is filled with tremendous talent, great speed, agility and strength. More importantly, the newest Warriors are outstanding young men, and will be positive ambassadors for East Stroudsburg University. We are not collecting talent, rather, we are building a team. Terwilliger's Take: 'Christian will be a terror in every PSAC 'A' gap. Coming from Paramus Catholic, he has played the highest level of football in the country and succeeded. He will bring a lot of energy to our DL room, we think the sky is the limit for Christian.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Makai has the making of a true Warrior great. He has a mix of great size and speed, and we think he will translate well to our blitz mentality defense. We can't wait to see him bend the edge.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Tyrese was the Player of the Year in the EPC North. He is a true hybrid athlete that can make plays on the inside as a running back and catch the ball as a wide receiver. He is a defensive coordinator's nightmare and a personnel mismatch wherever he lines up. He plays the game with a Northampton blue collar mentality, and he has a Warrior heart. Look out for Tyrese.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Matthew is a great addition to an already highly productive linebacker unit. He is as athletic of a linebacker as we've had. We had the opportunity to meet him at our camp, he visited our campus in the fall, committed in the winter, and now he is a true Warrior. We can't wait to welcome him to the family.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'TJ is an impact player. He led his team to the state championship game and has the ability to change the game on either side of the ball. His playmaking ability will be a great addition to a defense that had the number two turnaround in all of Division II football.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Keon is a vertical threat wide receiver. He can stretch the defense from all over the field. We love the way he runs routes and he brings some speed to our WR room. We look forward to seeing Keon develop in our passing game.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Johnny is a football guy. He plays the game with an undeniable passion. We love the way he makes plays all over the field. He has the unique ability to stretch the defense vertically, and if you give him an inch, he takes 10 yards.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Antonio is a high-motor defensive lineman from York County. He has a great get off and we think he can be an immediate impact player in the PSAC.'

Tyriq Lewis | RB | 5'8 | 170

Terwilliger's Take: 'Tyriq is the player of the year in Southeastern Pennsylvania. He has legit speed, and can make plays all over the field. He adds an electric playmaking ability to our run game. We love his character and his work ethic is unrivaled. He is a culture driver, and someone that will add great enthusiasm to our locker room.'

Adewale Obayanju | CB | 6'1 | 200
High School: Calvert Hall
Coach: Donald Davis

Terwilliger's Take: 'Adewale is a true lockdown cornerback from Calvert Hall in Maryland. He is a man-corner, and he wears his competitive drive on his sleeve. He is not afraid to be on an island, and he looks forward to attacking challenges. He will be an impact player in our conference.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Brian Ortiz was a production machine at Bergenfield. He made plays all over the field, and accounted for the majority of Bergenfield's total offense during his high school career. He's a leader on and off the field, and he takes great pride in his blocking. He will be a great addition to our WR room.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Malaki is a terror on the defensive front. Malaki is quick off the ball, and plays the game with great instinct. He does not stay blocked very long, he has a unique ability to diagnose the play and pursue with a passion. We can't wait to see Malaki let it rip up front!'

Quadir Scott | FS | 5'11 | 175
High School: East Orange
Coach: Rae Oliver

Terwilliger's Take: 'Quadir's nickname is the shark. That is a great description for how he plays the game. He is aggressive, he hunts the ball and is an apex predator in the defensive secondary. He has great speed, and he comes from a traditional powerhouse in north Jersey.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Khalil is the total package. He can run, tackle, shed blocks and cover. His versatility opens a new dimension of our playbook. Look out for Khalil on the edge making plays.'

Terwilliger's Take: 'Welcome to QBU. Aaron was one of the most productive quarterbacks in Pennsylvania state football history. He threw for 54 touchdowns his senior year. He's a coach's son, and his ability to make all the throws is evident. Aaron will be a great addition to our rich success at the quarterback position. We look forward to breaking more records with him!'

Terwilliger's Take: 'He is an immediate impact player. Rashann will be public enemy number one to all opposing offensive fronts. He will command double teams, and be an equal threat in the run game. His size and speed are ideal for our front, and he has a Warrior heart. Look out for Rashann, you will hear his name often.'

In addition to the 17 members of the signing class, Terwilliger and the Warriors brought in 12 other players to bolster the squad ahead of the 2020 season.
