Readout from World Bank Group President David Malpass’s Meeting with President Guillermo Lasso of Ecuador

WASHINGTON, November 29, 2021 - Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met virtually with President Guillermo Lasso of Ecuador.

President Malpass congratulated President Lasso on Ecuador's COVID-19 vaccination campaign and underscored the WBG's support to fighting child malnutrition.

President Malpass and President Lasso held positive discussions on the broader economic progress in the country, strengthening investment flows, and steps to reduce inequality. President Malpass welcomed Ecuador's tax reform that went into effect today and looked forward to labor and regulatory reforms that will make Ecuador more inclusive and competitive.

President Malpass and President Lasso also discussed digitalization, trade, and reforms essential for economic and social progress for all Ecuadorans, especially the most vulnerable.
