This is the firm's fourth consecutive year being honored in the "large company" category

Downey Brand is proud to announce that it won first place in the Sacramento Business Journal's Best Places to Work "large company" category representing companies with 150-499 employees. It is the firm's fourth year being recognized as one of the Sacramento region's Best Places to Work.

This year's win coincides with the firm's 95th-Anniversary and its "giving back to the community" celebration. Since January, the firm, including its partners and employees, have selected charities each month to donate 95 items to. In March for example, the firm donated 95 books to four different charities, one in each of its four office locations. This month, the firm is partnering with Starting Point for Refugee Children and providing 95 welcoming kits to Afghan refugees resettling in Sacramento.

"Our 95th-Anniversary celebration has been one of the highlights this year, allowing us to come together as a firm and make a difference in our community," said Merry Iseley, the firm's Marketing Manager. "The firm's commitment to giving back and the collective generosity of our employees is just one of many reasons why Downey Brand continues to be one of the best places to work. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this firm."

After more than a year and a half of telework, partners and employees are starting to return to the office, many electing a hybrid model-three days in the office and two days at home. "The firm continues to give everyone a lot of flexibility to manage their work and personal lives in ways that work for them and for the firm," said Managing Partner Scott Shapiro. A firm survey revealed that collaboration and culture building were among the top reasons why many were choosing to return to the office, albeit in a hybrid model. "As we welcome people back to the office, we are working hard to reconnect with our friends and colleagues and build a staffing model that continues to produce excellence for our clients and builds long-term satisfaction for our team."

Additional perks enjoyed include the firm's relaxed dress code, swag giveaways, impromptu beverage and treat carts, and varied social gatherings.

Best Places to Work honors companies with operations in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties. Employees of nominated companies were asked to answer questions that measure employee engagement in several categories, including teamwork, trust, compensation, and benefits. A third-party company evaluated the responses and identified first-, second-, and third-place winners in each size category.
