Reps. Demings, Soto, Murphy Announce New Grant Funding for LYNX & FDOT
Orlando, FL: Today Reps. Val Demings (FL-10), Darren Soto (FL-09), and Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) announced new federal grants for the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for expansion of low-emission public transportation in Central Florida. These grant programs were supplemented under the bipartisan infrastructure law, which was supported by Reps. Demings, Murphy, and Soto.Said Rep. Demings, "I joined Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan infrastructure act because Orlando's economy depends on our travel infrastructure. When Central Florida's residents and visitors can get where they need to go easily, quickly, and safely, it helps our families and our community to grow. I'm proud to announce these new federal transportation grants that will expand low-emission transportation that keeps our air clean, keeps our communities healthy, and reduces traffic and congestion. This will help fuel our community's continued economic growth and keep us moving."Said Rep. New grant funding has been awarded to LYNX and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the expansion of low-emission public transportation in Central Florida. - $16,132,025 for LYNX
- $6,478,370 for FDOT to be used in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties
LYNX Grant
The purpose of the Buses and Bus Facilities Program is to assist in the financing of buses and bus facilities capital projects, including replacing, rehabilitating, purchasing or leasing buses or related equipment, and rehabilitating, purchasing, constructing or leasing bus-related facilities. The purpose of the Low-No Program is to support the transition of the nation's transit fleet to the lowest polluting and most energy efficient transit vehicles. The Low-No Program provides funding to state and local governmental authorities for the purchase or lease of zero-emission and low-emission transit buses, including acquisition, construction, and leasing of required supporting facilities.
FDOT Grant
